Remembering Andy Noy with TCCA posthumous ‘Industry Recognition’ award

Date:

August 2024

Following his posthumous tribute at this year's ICCAs, British APOC discusses the enormous contribution made by a much-missed colleague and friend.

It’s been a year since the tragic loss of our colleague Andy Noy, and the anniversary was marked by a special award presentation at the Home Office last week, attended by his wife and children.

The award was given in recognition of Andy’s enormous impact, expertise, and contribution to the critical communications industry, and was initially accepted by Rob Watkins at the International Critical Communications Awards in Dubai, in May this year. Andy was a much loved and respected leader in the Emergency Services Network Programme technical team, and Rob, along with ESN Programme Director John Black, presented the award to Andy’s family in a special MA hosted event at Clive House in London, recently.

The event was attended by many colleagues from the ESN Programme and the user community, who were forthcoming in expressing their support and admiration for Andy, and keenly shared their stories of working with him. Andy’s wife told Rob that the day was “emotional for the family, but also so lovely for myself and the children to hear how professionally respected and highly thought of Andy was”.

So many superlatives have been used to describe Andy, and he was incredibly modest about his many achievements, being the low profile, unassuming man he was. But if you wish to read more about him, BAPCO have published a tribute to him in their July magazine, here.
